Because animals are movement. Still, shifting, stirring, moving from one space to the next. Even taxidermied specimens (from the collection of Museums Victoria), if you wink. Animate. Animated. Animal.

Animate. Animated. Animal. was released into the wild at the 2019 NGV Melbourne Art Book Fair.

This zine forms a binding series with Please, I’m looking for (whatever you are looking for), Museum Sketches: Your Specimens Sing an Operatic Chorus, and Your gelatine silver print, in the shape of the full moon.

The exciting exhibition, Ripples in the Open, by Melbourne based artists Gracia Haby and Louise Jennison, was opened by the Mayor of Maroondah City Council on Thursday 15th of November, followed by a talk by the artists about the process of imagining and creating their captivating works — from the intimate to the monumental.

Gracia and Louise have been commissioned to create a huge collage for ArtSpace at Realm, presented as a floor-to-ceiling printed landscape featuring portholes of moving collage comprised of stunning lenticular prints of animals.

The exhibition invites you to join the artists in an exploration of things hidden in plain sight and to be immersed in an imaginary and not-so imaginary world.
