At sea, on shore
2012–2013

Collages created for The Big Issue magazine
Summer Edition
No 422
26th of December, 2012 – 10th of January, 2013

Two collaborative collages created especially for The Big Issue’s Summer Edition to describe the feel of the words of author Laura Jean McKay’s piece, ‘All at Sea’. This is the fourth collage we have had the pleasure of working on for the magazine.

As a passenger on a cargo ship you experience the collision of two very different worlds —the tourist's world and that of the working sailor. One longs for adventure and the other, in the most adventurous of occupations, longs for home.

Summer Special
No 397
3rd of January – 16th of January, 2012

A collaborative collage created especially for The Big Issue’s Summer Special for a brand New Year, our piece accompanies Chris Flynn's ‘Outline for a thinly veiled, autobiographical, first-person-perspective fiction piece’.

Our collage created includes a back garden in wartime view, photographed for Picture Post magazine in summer 1942 for a story entitled How to Spend a Holiday in London, and a crow let loose in the kitchen.

Twelve Tales, Fiction Edition Special
No 388
30th of August – 12th of September, 2011

Two collaborative collage pieces created especially for The Big Issue’s annual Fiction Edition. Our polar bear gazing at mysterious other, in Momentarily visible, graced the contents page, and Not so very different upon reflection accompanied an extract of Charlotte Wood’s forthcoming novel, Animal People (published by Allen & Unwin, October 2011).

In search of the unexpected
2011

Collage created for The Big Issue magazine
No 376
15th of March – 28th of March, 2011

Our collaborative collage piece, In search of the unexpected, was one we made especially to run alongside the article on Laura van den Berg's book What the World Will Look Like When All the Water Leaves Us.

In the background one can see the Old City of Dresden, as it looked in 1900. This collage also features on one of our greeting card designs.
